Synesthesia LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ClinicalRN nursing clinical-reasoning practice application and website (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect only what the Service needs to work and to improve your learning experience.

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares (name and email). You may also set a display name that is visible to other users on leaderboards and in study groups.
• Learning & progress data. Your practice activity — case attempts and answers, quiz and exam sessions, flashcard review history, experience points (XP), streaks, daily goals, badges, and bookmarks — so we can track your progress and power features like spaced repetition and the learning path.
• Social features. If you use friends, study groups, duels, or shared streaks, we store the connections you create and the content you post (such as group messages). Your display name and progress may be shown to people you connect with.
• Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; Stripe handles payment details directly. We store a Stripe customer identifier and your subscription status so we can provide paid access.
• Notifications. If you enable push notifications, we store the push subscription your browser or device provides (and your time-zone offset) so reminders arrive at an appropriate local time.
• Usage analytics. We log first-party product events (for example, that a case was started or a subscription checkout began), along with the page path and a timestamp, to understand how the Service is used and improve it.
• Device & log data. Like most online services, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type, and access times as part of delivering and securing the Service.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and personalize the Service and your learning progress.
• To operate social, gamification, and reminder features you choose to use.
• To process subscriptions and provide paid access.
• To understand usage, fix problems, and improve the Service.
• To communicate with you about your account, security, and (if enabled) reminders.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their function:

• Google Firebase (authentication, database, and hosting infrastructure).
• Stripe (payment processing).
• Hosting & delivery providers that serve the application.
• Push-notification services operated by your browser or device vendor, used only to deliver notifications you have enabled.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.

Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated personal data — including attempts, exam history, flashcard progress, XP, streaks, friends, and group memberships — and cancels any active subscription. Some records may persist in backups for a limited period and in aggregated, de-identified form that no longer identifies you.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including access controls and encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for nursing students and professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app (for example, editing your display name or deleting your account), or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA.

International Users

We operate in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States and may process and store your information there and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to countries with different data-protection laws.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
